Unable to get my smart ID
Department of Home Affairs - South Africa Consumer Complaint
I applied for my smart ID at Home Affairs Mitchell's Plain on 5th February 2018.
It took a month, and several emails to hacc.dha.gov.za to get a reply regarding what has happened to my ID.
I finally received a reply in the beginning of March that my ID is now ready for collection at the branch.
Since I live abroad I contacted Ms Neliswa Tamte at Neliswa.Tamte@dha.gov.za

With a...

I am due to leave the country in the next month yet in the absence of being able to apply for a passport, I am facing the risk of having to cancel the trip and losing a significant amount of money. I never thought that it would be impossible to apply for a passport, yet my local home affairs office confirmed that they are unable to start an application for me in light of the fact that their system shows an open application. As they are unable to open or delete this application, they cant assist me....leaving me in a...

Home Affairs - Incompetence
Department of Home Affairs - South Africa Consumer Complaint
I submitted an application for an addition of a first name on 2 January 2014. Today is 9 September 2014 and the contact centre informed me that the processing office did not aknowledge receipt of my application yet and therefore does not exist on record. I cannot get off from work to go back to the Cape Town office to request the query manager (who only works Monday to Friday) to re-submit. I need to the application finalised in two months time. The phones at the Cape Town office all just rings and never gets answered, I am not allowed to phone the processing office directly. No...
